Appendix 1– Proposals where objections are recommended to be upheld in part

1.         Site 1 Mary Stanford Green, Rye (Councillor Keith Glazier)

1.1       The proposal at this location to install new no waiting at any time restrictions at the junction of Mary Stanford Green and Harbour Road.

1.2       Four objections have been received from residents on the grounds that the proposal extends too far west from the junction and removes a needed parking space, and one objection received on the grounds that the proposal should also include a no waiting at any time restriction on the south side opposite Seafarers. One item of support was received on this proposal.

1.3       The proposal follows a request from a resident for junction protection markings as vehicles park very close to the junction.

1.4       Whilst junction protection markings are considered necessary to aid driver visibility for those entering and exiting Mary Stanford Green, it is however recognised that the proposals can be modified slightly by reducing the proposed no waiting at any time restriction by 7.5m on the west side of the junction while maintaining safety at the junction.

1.5       At the time of writing, Councillor Glazier has not replied to provide their views regarding the recommendation.

1.7       Recommendation: To uphold, in part, the objections and to modify the proposal by reducing the no waiting at any time restriction, ending 10m west of the junction.
